Melanotan 2 is a synthetic analogue of peptide hormone alpha MSH and stimulates melanogenesis and increases sexual arousal. It was under development as a drug candidate for femaleĀ  but somehow clinical development ceased for Melanotan 2 in 2003 and as of 2018, all ceased to market containing it. There are also untested and unrecognised products of Melanotan 2 that are marketed as causing severe side effects so be careful while buying online. Side effects include uneven pigmentation.

Research in the early 1960s showed that in animals like rats, administration of alpha MSH caused muscle gain, and work on this continued in many labs up through the 1980s, when scientists at the University in the USA began attempting to develop Alpha MSH and analogues as potential Sunless tanning agents and synthesized and tested several analogues, including Melanotan 1 and Melanotan II.

Early in the research process one of the scientists of the lab, who was conducting experiments on himself with an early tool compound, Melanotan II, injected himself with twice the dose he intended to and got an eight-hour erection, along with nausea and vomiting-like side effects.

There are numerous products of melanotan 2 that are sold in gyms and beauty salons also people use it for their own purpose of personal use however the products are not good to use if it is not officially available is not safe to use. Also, the government does not prescribe it for sale in 2007. However, the current trend could be on selling it in black for just money purposes which is not good.
